I’m cutting a film on Final Cut Pro HD and I’m confused about the VANC pulldown in Blackmagic’s system preferences. I shot on film, dubbed to HD masters with a simo dub on DVCAM for my offline edit. My HD masters are 23.98, my DVCAM is 29.97 and I’m relying on Blackmagic to correct the 3:2 pulldown but the question is how. In system preferences it wants me to set my A-frame reference on tape at timecode frame 00 or 01 or 02 etc. Do I need to set this each time a new film reel starts on my DVCAM tapes? Can I set it once somehow and trust it? I’m generally confused about this whole thing and am desperately trying not to screw up my online by picking the wrong A-frame references. Any help is appreciated.
