  HDLink crapped out after 2 hrs.

  I installed a new Decklink HD card (replacing my Decklink Pro) in my G5 tonight. I also hooked up my 23″ Cinema HD display via an HDLink. It looked awesome and worked perfectly until in the middle of an editing session and the Cinema Display went black.

  At first I thought that it was the display, so I hooked it up to the G5 via the DVI port and the monitor is fine. I then installed the new firmware on the HDLink thinking that it might solve the problem. No go.

  I think put the Decklink Pro card back in and hooked it up to the HDLink. Still doesn’t work.

  Must be the HDLink is bad.

  Anyone else have any ideas?

  I am running a G5 Dual 2.0, OS 10.3.8, BMD 4.8 drivers.

  If the HDLink is bad, can I return it to the vendor or do I have to send it to BlackMagic. I hope not.

  The stupid thing crapped out in the middle of an edit session with the client looking over my shoulder. Too bad since he was blown away by the quality of the output before it quit working.

  Hi Daniel,

  If you believe the unit is faulty – simply contact your reseller. They will do an RMA with our USA office for a replacement. This can happen quickly as our USA office will have stock.

  Thanks. My vendor is calling in an RMA this afternoon. I hooked the HDLink up to my edit system at my office and it still isn’t working.

  Hopefully we can get a replacement ASAP. Of course this happens in the middle of a job with a deadline of this Monday.
