  • Massive drop frames on HD capture.

    Hello.

I’m in bad way here. Yesterday I captured about 2 hours of HD footage using a Sony F900. The footage was originated on a Sony F750 and the tapes brought to us for capture. The thing is that in some big portions of the footage there are massive lack of frames (about 10 – 12 frames each 3 or 4 seconds of footage). Initially I thought this was a damn playback issue but other parts of the footage playback just fine. Also when I go into a portions which seem to have dropframes and I use the arrows to move fram by frame I get obvious jumps in places where it seems there is a lack of frames. The deadline for the project I’m working on (a music video) is really really close and reacapturing and resync would be now a terrible setback.
One more thing. We also capturead (when we had our editing suite setup) the Sony demo footage for the Cinealta from the HD tape, and that footage ALWAYS plays out well.

I tried recapturing some of the material, this time using Premiere’s *abort capture on frame drop* option. As soon as I started playing / capturing the footagea after a fews seconds, Premiere aborted capture indicated a dropframe, although I could see nothing wrong in the camera viewfinder or on the 24″ HD monitor.
