I’ve been using the HD Pro card for over a year now. I’m very savvy with all the setting relating to it and FCP. When I left on Friday everything was working great. I haven’t upgraded to Tiger or anything like that either.

So, like I said I left on Friday, everything was working, today I come in (monday) and there is no more video output. The card was running through a HD-SR deck to the monitor, so I figured it was probably a setting problem on the deck. Checked all the settings on the deck and that was all good. Ended up hooking the card directly to my HD-Link. THIS IS THE STRANGE PART. Sound plays out to the HD Link fine. I’m getting normal sound from the HD-Link, but there is no video getting to it. The HD Pro card is not taking in any video signal either. When I go into log and capture mode it just says “no video input”!

What could have happened or changed over the weekend when nobody was around to make the card not work? I can’t think of anything. Is there any utility that actually tests the card? Is there any sort of loop test I can do on the card, like plugging the output into the input and have it check itself?

    Any suggestions?

The only time that I have seen “No Video Input” on a system that has been working properly is when there is a format mismatch – that is, the decklink could be expecting a format other than what you are sending from your deck.

Do post back when you solve this issue as we can all benefit from the solution.

Yeah, I’ve gotten the message before for that reason, it’s not that this time. I’ve also had the “no video input” problem when virtual desktop is on, (when you install a driver update it usually defaults to on…) but it’s not that this time. I’ve checked all the cables, and everything I can think of. Tomorrow I’m going to put the card in a fresh new G5 and install all new drivers, because I think the card might actually have gone bad. I’m waiting to hear from Black Magic, to see if they have any good ways to test the actual card.

    Hi,

I’ve had this problem a couple times…under the View menu External Video should be on All Frames…for some reason mine goes to OFF occasionally. Good luck…

Hey I found the solution. It’s not a good one though. I turned the computer off overnight. Still not working when i shut it down. Turned it on this morning, and it worked great… I’m happy it’s working but that doesn’t help next time I have this problem. I tried shuting down and restarting the computer many times yesterday, so it wasn’t just as simple as restarting the computer. Very strange. Any ideas from Black Magic?

I have the same problem (went away for a week, computer was rendering while I was out) returned and now have no Decklink HD output or input. This is a PC system and Decklink audio doesn’t work either. I’ll try shuting the computer off for a while.

Matt- has this problem recurred for you?

It’s happening to me now – and shutting down for a few minutes didn’t help..

The only thing that changed on my machine is that I’m running QT 7 now…but I have a Blackmagic Extreme
card running QT7 fine. It’s not Tiger 10.4 on either system, just QT 7…

On my HD Pro system, video out works perfectly- I just can’t capture.
