  Why does AE change my 1920 x 1080 into 1440 x 1080 on export?

  We are shooting some title/credit sequences. We were asked by the director to shoot in this format: Panasonic DVCPro HD, 1920 x 1080 25p, PAL

  THe camera we are using is a Canon 5D Mark II. Shooting at 24fps (the camera won’t shoot at 25fps).

  We shot the footage.

  I converted the footage to 25fps in Magic Bullet Grinder and imported into AE for adding effects. The footage imports correctly. When I export it from AE (as DVCPRO HD 1080p25 1920 x 1080, 1.00 PAR) AE changes dimensions to 1440 x 1080 (1.33 PAR)’to meet format constraints’.

  What is the best way to export so that what I deliver to director is correctly formatted as: DVCPRO HD 1920 x 1080 25p?

  BTW I have tried also exporting as Apple Pro Res422 and it stays the same dimensions (1920 x 1080). Should we just output from AE as ProRess422 and convert w/ converter software into the correct final format?

  Any advice appreciated.

  The DVCPRO HD CODEC only works at 1440×1080 (with a 1.33 PAR). Since the director requested for the DVCPRO HD CODEC, you should be fine with delivering a 1440×1080 (1.33 PAR) movie. It should import into an NLE just fine.
