Export colours washed out
Hi,
My video looks fine in after effects but when I export it out, the colour is washed out, and there seems to be more contrast.
I do not have a WorkingSpace set, and think that might fix the problem? but the color settings in, project settings are greyed out and I am unable to make any section. (I’m using AE7)
Any ideas?

What format are you working in (HD, SD), what kind of source footage, and most importantly what format are you exporting in and how are you viewing the final result? Without that information it’s hard to narrow down the problem.

HD, Exporting to quicktime, tried both dvcpro and H.264 ,viewing in any application it looks washed out (QT, vlc, win). Footage is mostly 3D renders in .tga

Is your footage 32bit or 16bit color and the AE comp the same?

Sorry, I’ve got no idea as to why those settings would be grayed out. I haven’t used AE7 in ages, and I don’t have it installed on any of my machines anymore.
That said, how are you compressing your deliverables? Could you be seeing a gamma shift in between output and final compression?

Thanks Walter, fixing the gamma shift in quicktime pro, fixes the washed out look but some of the images with ‘multiply’ blend mode still look quite different from in AE.
