  720×480 (1.00 PAR) to 720×480 (0.91 PAR)

  Hello.

  I’m working with a AE project that has been given to me by another designer. It’s been set up as 720×480 (1.00 PAR) and I’ve been asked to export to DV25-NTSC, which is 0.91 PAR. When I export, AE gives me a “settings mismatch” error and it says it will resize the 720×480 (1.00 PAR) file will be resized to 720×480 (0.91 PAR). My resulting export, when viewed in QuickTime, is distorted.

  Could anyone explain to me how I would fix this?

  You should ignore the way QuickTime displays it. What matters is how many pixels you have. When you import the footage you get from someone else – you have to make sure how it was supposed to be interpreted. You shouldn’t always trust automatic AE’s interpretation.
  Most likely this footage was meant to be 0.91 PAR. That’s how you should interpret this in AE.
  Ignore QuickTime display because it doesn’t correct PAR. It’ll always display square pixels, no matter what the correct aspect should be.
  Anyway – It seems you did everything correct.

  Yea, just as a test, I decided to import my exported footage into DVD Studio Pro (as the intended use of this exported file is for use on DVD). When I imported into DVD Studio Pro, I marked the footage as 4:3 and burned a disc and reviewing the disc, the footage looked fine. So, based on your reply, and this test, I would assume my footage is OK.
