  Anyone got any ideas on how to do the affect on the opening titles of this trailer?

  I think it’s just a question of masking, duplicating and inverting the mask to get the different sections you want.

  One way is to use a masked adjustment layer with the transform effect applied and scale increased on the effect.

  

  A disadvantage with this method is that the scaled text is slightly blurred.
