    Hi everyone

I’m working on a logo that has some Illustrator 3D effects (Extrude & Bevel) applied to text. I was wondering if there’s a way to import or convert that to After Effects and retain 3D so that I can rotate the layers in 3D space.

    Thanks

No. Can’t be done with Illustrator 3D, 3D in Illustrator is a “Live Effect”, not a 3D Model.

You need another solution, like Zaxwerks Invigorator or a real 3D Application.

You can use Photoshop’s Repousse to extrude/bevel text or selections(both will be rasterized) and import the .psd into After Effects as a comp, making sure “Live Photoshop 3D” is checked.

Then you will be able to rotate 3D in AE.
