So i’m doing some typography to music. When i’m lining up the words to the music and sorting out the spacin and such i have each word on a seperate layer. The idea is then to pre-compose these layers into one to tidy up the timeline. However when i do i get blurry text, before i pre-compose all is fine, any ideas?

Yeah – there is a switch called “collapse transformations”. It looks like this * and is between the quality switch (like this: /) and the shy-guy switch on the layer. When you hit that switch AE will no longer treat the precomp as one footage item, but will actually go in and render it as if it were not precomposed.
