Anime action background
I want to create an anime/action style of background in After Effects. I want it to have the action lines/ect. to make it look as if something in the foreground is flying through the air… Any suggestions?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, are you refering to an effect in AE called “built”? I understand the ffx file that you generously posted is a favorite, but for what effect?

I meant built in effects, as in not purchsed plug-ins.
The FFX will put a Cell, Directional blur, median filter, and colorama with the appropriate settings placed onto a layer. Create a solid, add favorite and choose the ffx file.
Don’t know if the keyframes carried over like they do in 6.5 though. If not, animate the vertical movement in the cell filter and the evolution a little bit.

I just tried it on a different comp in AE 6.5.
For 6.5:
Create a solid. Under the animation menu, select ‘apply animation preset’ and choose the ffx i gave you. All the effects and keyframes will appear on the solid. Just ram preview the first 2 seconds.

a real simple way using standard plugins is
1. apply fractal noise to a solid
2. using “transform” tab within FNoise, stretch out which ever way you please. turn off uniform scaling first.
3 you can animate the direction and speed within the “sub-settings”, then adjust the “sub-offset” accordingly.
4. almost done, apply colorama and choose whatever color goes with your action. I like the fire preset.
