  Futuristic Computer Effect???

  I am making a short film that calls for someone on a phone and when they send a message, the camera goes into the phone and flies through wires and the inner workings of the phone, then into a large open area (the server) with data numbers passing by every where, then back through more wires and ends with the camera coming back out another phone. AKA the camera followed the text message as it was sent.

  Now, Im sure this is probably an advanced effect and I am an intermediate after effects user; but please help as I would love to be able to do this.

  You’re talking about a whole digitally created scene. There isn’t a one-click button to make that. Break it down to the visual beats, then you can tackle them one at a time with your intermediate skill set. You’ll likely use a combination of a 3D program and after effects to create the final result.

  As Cory said, that’s not an effect, that’s an entire scene. It will be filled with a whole bunch of effects.
  Storyboard it out and start to break it apart into the various parts and then address those parts one by one.

  Like the posters before mentioned you will need to storyboard, break into shots and design each shot and each transition.
  Here’s a list of plugins you may choose to use:
  3d Stroke- for cables/wires
  Particular for 3d signals that leave a trace behind (like the iPod commercial light streaks)
  Zaxwerks serpentine- could also be used for 3d cables
  Card Dance- use for data that floats in a computer space
  Zaxwerks invigorator – 3d shapes and text that can be textured – for various parts in your circuit.
