  MAC applications cannot be opened

  My Powerbook G4 crashed 2 months ago. We have used it since but now my printer application will not open. It reads printer proxy error. I installed quickbooks and entered information recently but a week later when I tried to open the application again, it did not open. We have checked Disk Utility and it did not help. What needs to be done? We have tried to open these applications in Applications folder, on the desktop, and on the tool bar.

  Processor 1.67 GHz
  Memory 512 MB DDR SDRAM

  I would start by emptying all caches,(library/caches, select all and send to trash). Empty trash. This usually will help kick start your apps. Once you are able to get your applications open, quit all apps, open disc utility and repair permissions on your system drive. This may all sound like old news, but it should help.
