Hi Everyone I’m a new boy!!

    I have just upgraded my G5 quads ram from 2.5 GB to a massive 14 GB (6 x 2GB & 2 x1GB) But when I look at my memory it tells me I have only 8GB ( 4 x 2GB) and 4 slots are empty.

I am running Final Cut pro studio amongst other programs on OS X 10.4.10 (BR2 18)

anyone got a fix or an explanation?

    thanks

It should support 16 GB, and even ignoring that, it should be reporting slots as being filled.

Take everything out but 2 chip and then keep exchanging them until you’ve checked them all. If you find any bad RAM, well, that’s the answer. If all the RAM is good, it’s time to call Apple and ask them, in that case it’s a problem with the computer.

    Thanks Jeff

I did actually sort this out I did’nt figure out how the slots were numbered and i had conflicting pairs in slots. Now running at 14GB (6x2GB & 2x1GB) Have’nt tried to render anything yet but it must help.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
