PLAN on getting a MacBook Pro shortly. Per the recommendations from David Weiss Roth and others on the FCP forum, I’ll use a SATA setup for any serious video editing when (and if) that time come. My question, I’d like to also create a music server for home use, as well as use FCP on the MBP for personal family projects. Would I be okay with a Firewire drive? Any recommendations? I’ll probably be getting it via the Apple Store – unless there are better recommendations here too.

    Much thanks,
    -Les

Make sure it has firewire800 and use that.

The G-Tech G-Drive is probably a nice safe bet. Their G-RAID gives a little more speed for a little higher price. You should compare those 2 products.

Otherwise, any firewire 800 drive will probably do fine. LaCie is popular. Western Digital too.
