  • Import Vectors as a layer mask?

Posted by David Biederbeck on December 5, 2010 at 8:45 am

    Short question:
Can I take an imported vector (say a logo) and make it a layer mask?

    Long question:
I have been looking to do 2 different things, and can’t make them work.
    1. I want to use a vector as a layer emitter for particular, but all I can seem to do with that is emit from the regions of the vector’s bounding box.
    2. I would like to use radio waves to emit waves of a vector logo. In order to do this, it must be a mask. I can’t seem to figure out how to make a vector a layer’s mask.

    Any suggestions?

This section of After Effects Help tells you various ways to create masks, including how to use a path from Illustrator, Fireworks, or Photoshop as a mask path.
