    Hi,

Anybody know any means to utilise the processing power of a number of Macs by networking them together through ethernet or Firewire?
I think one can do this through using an X serve + the software Xgrid – but this is way beyond my budget. Surely there is some simple software utility that one can use to assign rendering tasks to another computer on ones existing network ?

Thansk in advance for any advice offered.

The applications need to support network rendering in most cases. After Effects already has a solution for this, as do some 3D applications. You might want to check with your software developer to see if they have a solution for you. It would help to tell us what application/s you’d like to use network rendering with.

    Tony,

I’m using Final Cut Pro + Compressor [ Apple] + Photoshop + PTMac.
