OK, just got the new MacPro (12core, 48GB RAM) … but I can’t use multiprocessing because of two strange errors:

I think many of you know the “keylight out of memory” error. I can avoid it by deactivating the “layers cache” (I don’t know what that is in the english version) every 10 frames. But could anyone tell me the reason of this bug. I have allocated 3 GB RAM to each render thread, really!

By the way, why is it not possible to allocate more than 3 GB to one render thread?

The second, bigger problem is that AE sometimes can’t read the footage I’m working with (it’s the strange “can’t file open … damaged or unsupported .MooV” bug). The footage is XDCAM EX (35Mbit VBR) transferred with “XDCAM Transfer”. But it happens not all the time, just sometimes when working in the timeline, or after a couple of minutes rendering. The strange thing: if I deactivate multiprocessing, all works fine (at least till now) … but it’s no way to have that 12core monster and only use one thread.

    Hi!

You were right. I converted the XDCAM footage to 8bit uncompressed, it takes 1.5 TB on the harddrive now, but everything works.

    Thank you!
