Any information on your system would be helpful.
I would try restoring the preferences:
To restore default preference settings, hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) while the application is starting. To also restore default keyboard shortcuts, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) the OK button.
I’d also make sure you have the latest updates to whatever version of AE you’re running.

November 11, 2010 at 2:18 pmHi Warren –
I’ve been having the same problem, although it’s intermittent: every time I open AE (CS4, with all current patches) running on Vista 64 bit machine, it crashes once, then opens fine after that. It only happens once, pretty much every time I start AE after shutting down my system.
After searching high and low, and sending crash reports to Adobe (no response yet)I found somewhere that Magic Bullet Looks may be causing the problem – for me at least. I haven’t tried deleting them yet, so I don’t know for sure. I think there’s an update in the works from the MB side.

If you are going to cross-post your question to many different forums, please do everyone the favor of updating each thread with the information that you’re getting on those other forums. It’s very hard to track a conversation scattered across numerous websites.

November 12, 2010 at 2:08 pmOk, sorry. I only did that on two forums because I was not sure of the response I would get from either one. But thanks for letting me know. The issue is solved. I did a clean uninstall of the program and reinstalled it.

November 15, 2010 at 8:12 amThe only time I’ve had a problem with AE crashing on opening is when I had a personal preference on the layout over two screens. Deleting the personal preference layout settings was what solved the issue for me.

August 16, 2014 at 10:48 amIf you found problem after delete the folder its not about adobe its actually about antivirus many antivirus like avira block program link server firewall.for eg After installing after effects your antivirus will ask for whether to provide access for if you select deny you get in trouble in case for after effects.Mainly dont deny access of “dynamiclink manager” which result in those errors you have mentioned.if you already denied it just goto antivius setting–>firewall—>application rule and find “dynamiclink manger” allow access.
