  how do i set hundreds of layers in 3D space

  I have a 500+ layers .ai file in after effects. I basically want each layer to occupy a different plane in 3D space so when the camera is front on the full shape becomes clear but as you move the camera through it you can see its made up of hundreds of shapes on different planes. I know how to do this manually for each layer but was wondering if there was a ‘quick fix’ method where I can set the ‘z’ value of position and different values for each of the 500+ layers. perhaps using expressions?
