    Hi,
After effects keeps crashing while lauching. Here is the alert message :

I saw that there was a lot of posts in various forums describing a similar problem, but the solutions and alert message seem different in each case… And I am really confused.

I hope someone can help !

    What solutions have you tried?

I haven’t had this problem before myself, but the solution I’ve seen posted a couple times is opening your home folder (Finder > Go > Home, or Cmd-Shift-H in Finder), then navigating to Library > Preferences > Adobe > After Effects and trashing the 10.0 folder.

Have you installed the After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.

Also, see this page, which contains an explanation and solution for one common cause of the message that you’re seeing:

    Hello,

I am having precisely this problem.

What seems to have fixed it for others is the upgrade to 10.0.1.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to install the upgrade, as documented in Adobe Forums here:

    https://forums.adobe.com/message/3566802#3566802

… where my message has not been responded to since my posting several months ago.

I am hoping Todd, who answered in both places will be able to help.

    Thank you.

    Declan

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling, and then apply the 10.0.2 update.
