    Hi All,

I am on a Mac Pro Quad Core 10.6.4 Nvidia 4800 graphics card and AE CS5.

After using AE for about 30 min my monitors start flickering and my computer crashes. I also have FCP and Smoke in the same machine and I never get this problem with those applications.

    Anyone having similar issues?
    Thanks,

    AN

actually it would be an update… to download that you can simply choose help>updates… from the after effects menu.

also, so try and remedy the ae issue, make sure you have opengl disabled in the ae preferences (preferences>previews, then uncheck the option for ‘enable opengl’).

and if you use effects that have an opengl option, disable it that too (they should also have a check box for opengl within the effect’s settings).

    Thanks Kevin,

I meant update, but thanks for all the tips, haven’t used AE in a few years although I have been using it since 1993 🙂

Actually, this issue isn’t fixed by an update to After Effects; it’s fixed by an update to Mac OS:
