  Canon 7D-brightness shifts even in Manual Mode

  I have been shooting quite a few HD video (1080 30p) timelapses (I speed up the video) of clouds and sunsets/rises of late and I am continually noticing that there are dramatic shifts in what appears to be exposure even though the camera is locked in manual mode, ISO 100, Shutter 60, and F-stop locked.   Do you have it on Auto White balance? That could be the source of your brightness issues. As the sun sets it changes the white balance so the brightness also gets shifted slightly.
