  Play Sony HD tape on Canon HV-40

  I just purchased a Canon HV-40 for my transfer business to specifically capture video from a Sony Digital HD (for HDV/DV) Video miniDV 63. The tape was recorded on a Sony HDR HC5E camera. I cannot get the tape to play…the error message is “Incorrect Tape Specification” which has an explanation of “You attempted to play back a tape recorded in a different television system (PAL or SECAM) or in a recording standard not supported by this camcorder.”

  My understanding from B&H where I purchased my Canon that it would play these tapes.

  I have made the settings on my Canon camera which appear to be correct but may have missed something.

  Is there any advise you can give me?
