  The Website below has a new software program that converts AVCD from Canon (MTS) and from Sony (M2TS) to M2T which is easily aditable in SONY V8 and other NLEs.
  It does batch processing so do not have to baby sit it. It’s $49 and it works. I use it for MTS conversion from Canon HG10.
