I’m wanting to buy a used xh-a1. Is there a function that tells you total hours used for recording? Like an Odometer?
    Thanks,
    John

Unless there is something the service people can access, the answer is no. I have three canons.. xl-h1, xh-a1, and hv30.. I bought them all new, partially for that reason. I have a sony hvr-a1u, and it does.. I’m not sure why they do this (or don’t).. but no, no way to tell. Personally, I would be careful, I know I have a NEW HV30 that if I was to sell, there is no way the person who bought it would know that I have been using it as an editing deck.. I’ve run over 300 hours though it, but it still looks nice, new and shiny and still works great, but I kind of doubt they are made for that kind of abuse.
