I recently purchased the XH-A1 and am capturing via firewire to Final Cut. I have successfully captured DV and 16:9 DV. Every time I try to capture HDV I either get an error or I have deck (camera) control but when I try to capture the tape rolls for the duration of the clip but nothing captures and I have to abort. I am trying to capture HDV 60i.

Seems like there are two places I may be using the wrong settings, Easy set up and the capture settings in the capture window.

Also, the Preview window is always disabled while I am trying to capture HDV.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a similar problem with the preview window being disabled while I capture from my Optura. I just close FCP, shut down the machine, unplug the power cable and wait about ten seconds. Then I reconnect everything, start back up and try again. It always works fine then. It might be something between FCP and Canon cameras…Can’t explain it, but it works for me…
