  Can you combine upper and lower field sd video on a dvd?

  I have some hd down-converted to sd upper field first and some sd lower field footage i’d like to combine together on a dvd. The upper field is for the main title and the lower field video is for the menu background video only.

  I know I could de-interlace the menu video and re-render as upper field, but id rather stick with the master copy settings as-is, if I could.

  Could this cause potential playback or viewing issues on some dvd players or does it not matter?

  I plan on distributing copies of this video and wouldn’t want any incompatibility.

  You’re fine as long as its not in the same title (track)
