Burnt DVDs in old DVD players
Is there a burning process that will make a DVD-R or DVD+R compatible with older set-top DVD players (which typically don’t play DVD-R or DVD+R)? Let’s say I have a friend who has an old DVD player and I want to deliver something to him that will work, what do I need to do other than tell him to get a new DVD player?

Nothing you can do. Tell him to get a new set top if it doesn’t support DVD-/+ R

MY OLD Panasonic (1997) can’t play -R discs by Princo or Memorex
But… when i use TDK -R (blue discs) – it work!Now you can try to use +R Verbatim discs with DVD-ROM book-type
(use LG or Samsung DVD_Recorder and ImgBurn for recording) -
If the laser diode in an older DVD player begins to weaken, its light output will be less, and the player will have trouble reading any burnable DVD. The player probably will continue to play replicated DVDs correctly because these reflect much more light back to the sensor.
If seen laser diodes in DVD players go bad in as little as six months of use.
