Hi all, Im working on a dvd project at the moment which requires me to put 3 one hour programs onto one dvd so thats 3 hours onto one disk, i have done this before but i had to compress it so much it looked like crap but Im no expert when it comes to compression, so i was wondering can anyone give me any advice on the best was to compress my footage so it looks good ? Im using dvd studio pro.

How is it done for instance with box set that you get in video store e.g. I got the Sopranos box set last week and they have 3 programs on one disk and it looks good what software do they use?

    Ok thanks Emmet

For it to fit on a single layer disc you would need to go with a bitrate of around 3mbs. Thats way to low and not good for quality. You’ll need to use a DL disc and go with a bitrate of around 6.

The Sopranos were mastered on on DVD-9 (DL discs) giving you roughly twice the space to work with.

    Thanks for the response,
Is the process for authoring onto a single layer dish the same as working with
    DVD-9 DL discs ?

For the most part but you need to set your layer break in your authoring tool.
