What determines the physical location of video files on a video DVD-R?
Does anyone know the methodology of where (physically) video files are placed on a video DVD-R?
For example, I know the DVD is read from the inside out (the opposite direction of an old vinyl record) and I know that the formatting information is contained in the innermost ring area. After that, what determines the order? It’s apparently not by file size. I’ve got a project that has a few motion menus, and 3 video programs. The menus appear to be just after the formatting info. The 3 video programs have lengths of 10 minutes, 15 minutes and 120 minutes. Through “sharpie-marking” the disc and seeing where it freezes, I’ve determined that the physical order (starting from the inside) turns out to be the 15, then the 120, then the 10. I can’t figure the reasoning. Any clues?
thanks
