I’ve always liked vintage machines, the challenges of their perceived drawbacks included.
They give you a unique look, and really have a charming quality.

I’ve shot some 8mm/16mm film home video style cameras before.
And i’ve delved into getting the best from miniDV camcorders.
But I don’t even know where to begin with when it comes to betacam broadcast cameras.

If I were to buy one off eBay, what would be good things to look for?
How many of them are usually in working condition?
Any models stand out to you?
    Which were the best?
Were any better suited for portable, out of the studio field recordings?
And lastly – how practical is it to get the footage to computer now a days?

If any pros from the days before DSLRs had some input, i’d be gracious!
