Hi, I’m working on D1/DV NTSC (o.9), 29.97 fps footage.

From what I understand, AE de-interlaces my footage automatically… then I get aliasing (jagged lines) on diagonal lines.

So my mission today was to find out how to avoid this “jagged line” problem.

    1) Is there a way to do this? What settings do I need to set?

    2) During my tests, I was exporting frames to compare my results and I got a BEAUTIFUL frame (ZERO jagged lines) that I exported after changing my composition settings to the “NTSC D1 Square Pixel” preset. But I was unable to duplicate my results. So I have no idea what else I changed besides the aspect ratio

Any help/insight would be much appreciated 🙂

    Thanks in advance,

    Marc

I figured out that the exported frame with no jagged edges was produced by selecting “field render” >lower field first.

So, is this what I’m supposed to do when I have interlaced footage that I want to export?…
    field render when exporting?

If this is the case, I’m very surprised I haven’t read about this before as it seems like a pretty important piece of information.

    Thanks,

    Marc
