In CS4, double-clicking on an Illy layer in the project window links everything else, if the relationship between files and layers hasn’t changed. Unless I’m mistaken …

Thanks. But: If the file name has changed, all the layers are “lost” in AE.
Re-linking one layer, doesn’t automatically link the rest.
    I’m getting Carpel-Tunnel from re-linking layers.

Why don’t you rename the file to the old filename?

(You know not to do that again, eh?) 🙂

Layers often get misinterpreted by AE, regardless of the file name.
If you ad or delete layers in an Illustrator file, the existing layers distort in AE.
When you re-import, you have to import each layer, in the said file, one by one.

Do you know what I’m talking about?

Oh, yes. That’s always a bad idea.
