Any one have any luck converting a FCP7 sequence to Avid MC2018 using Automatic Duck…and then successfully relinking the media. We tried all the methods described for AvidMC 5 & 6, tutorials on the web, but these methods seem to require the use of the menu items AMA Volumes & AMA Files import, which seem to have been eliminated from the Media Composer menu.

Any alternative methods for migrating from FCP7 to Avid MC2018?

    Yes, done it lots.

No. You need to use the option in the Duck to convert the footage to Avid media. And then you put the transcodes into the Avid file structure. But doing it that was is pretty solid.

Even when there were AMA options, it was spotty, at best. Even the author of the Duck says best to just convert, because relinking was problematic, they never solidly got it to work.

Resolve. XML out of FCP, import that and media into Resolve, render out as Avid media, and use the AVID AAF DELIVERY option.

But again, best to transcode the media. Relinking to existing media doesn’t really work.
