  • Importing Markers onto AVID Clips

    Hi guys,

I have a question about markers and the way avid reads them. Is there a way of formatting a text file so that I can import the information as markers on a clip? I have a video hosting site that assigns a timecode to every comment in the comments section, and I am looking for a quick and easy way to assign these comments to markers in AVID.

Any insight would be very appreciated! Thanks!

    Sure, it’s easy.
Export a marker list as .txt and study the file. It’s not that hard.

I’ve got the importing markers working well on the record monitor – but I would like the assigning of markers to be to the clip, not necessarily a sequence. When I try to put the .txt file on the specific clip it says “the record monitor must be selected.”

There is no ability to import markers on source clips via a text file (ALE). It can be done via an AAF.

Sure you can, with a few extra steps.
Autosequence the clips you want the markers on, import markers on that sequence, copy/paste markers into the source.
(I assume the markers have to be set on V1.)

Instead of autosequence, any sequence with start / end overlapping the source will do.
