  Sony a7s to avid?

  Hi
  I have footage from a Sony a7s and need to use Avid Media Composer.
  Avid won’t read the files directly, so I used Davinci Resolve to transcode them and then ingest them in Avid.
  Is there a loss in quality in this transcoding?
  Is there a better way to transcode the files?

  You most likely would have transcoded then anyway once linked due to performance (if you did link using AMA MediaReactor for $99). So doing it in Resolve is the same process.

  Alternative, use Sony Catalyst – it is free and will allow you to transcode to XAVC-HD which Avid supports.
