Just wondering if it’s possible to grab a freeze frame from the Record monitor in AVID MC6?

    Why you ask?

After laying out everything on the timeline I add a watermark in the lower thirds left side, and I need an image of one shot within the sequence to make a jpeg (or any image format not just jpeg – it can be TIFF etc).

When I put the playhead over the timeline and click on the record monitor and go to clip / freeze frame, the freeze frame is grey so I can’t use it.

I did put the image full screen and do a screen shot, but I was wondering if it’s possible to do it within Avid?

    Thanks in advance for assistance.

You can “Export” a graphic file – many choices: JPEG, PNG etc.

Here is how i’ve done it for years…bit of a PITA, but in reality, it takes about 5 to 10 seconds total.

mark an in/out point on your timeline to get a duration of 1 frame at the point you want to freeze.

Then create a video mixdown of that section (because its only 1 frame it takes up hardly any space, and is instantaneous)

load that video mixdown in the source viewer

create a freeze frame of that
