Media storage – File number limit in MXF and OMFI folders
Hi,
I am working with an old version of MC – 6.5.2 but on a Mac OS 10.10.5. I have recently discovered a number (sorry 000s) of audio files I’d like to use on future projects. They are just audio – i.e production sound, sound effects, and stereo music. I want to keep them on an external HDD (Mac format).
Does anyone have experience with this number of media files on Mac HDDs? (so far about 25,000) What do you know about the official and ‘real world’ limits to MC storage? And if there are limits, then are there other solutions?
(I do know that a PC system can be organized with numbered folders. But Mac OS cannot?)
Could converting .wav files into MXF work as a solution?
Ideas much appreciated,
M
