  4K export codecs

  I will be upgrading to 4K finishing soon with Avid and need to know what files can be exported directly from the Avid on mac platform. Will it support XAVC, DPX or Jpeg 2000 at UHD res?

  I’m on the windows platform, but I’m not sure if the export options are much different.

  Jpeg 2000 has been around for quite a while I think.

  DPX is an option under AMA File Export, as is mxf op1a

  And under output we still have XDCam and P2.

  Of all this, I think dpx is the only new item. Versions get a bit muddy after a while.

  I am also able to ama link to a stills dpx sequence, which for some reason I think may be new. I thought AMA wouldn’t do file sequences?

  Remember, you can always try the trial to see if your workflows will work.

  DPX is the only sequential file format that works with AMA unless you use the MediaReactor AMA which supports other format like ARRI RAW.

  You can export DNxHR as well as the other aforementioned formats, but it most likely depends on what your goals are with the file format to best just which one to recommend.
