  Importing AE file with Alpha Channel into Avid 6

  I have been trying to import an AE (CS5) DNX36 with Alpha to avid and I keep getting the error message– Exception: Cannot quick import a mixed resolution QT movie — I have tried Animation and TIFF as well.

  Export settings out of AE are as follows.

  Format: QT movie
  Post Render: None
  Channels: Alpha
  Depth: Millions of Colors
  Color: Straight (unmatted)

  DNXHD codec: 23.976 dnx36 8 bit

  When I import into avid I invert. What might I be missing?

  First thing to try…you need to select RGB+Alpha and Millions + as your setting. If AE only gives you either RGB or Alpha as an option, then the codec you have chosen doesn’t support alpha channels. (not all codecs can embed alpha channels)

  Try with Animation and the above settings.
