  • Upgrade project from MC 4 to MC 5, on new computer

    Hello,

I know this is terribly old school, but we have just set up MC 5 on a refurbished computer. We’re hoping to bring an old project from a different computer running MC 4 onto this new computer with MC 5.

I can’t figure out how to open the old project in the new system. It doesn’t show up when I start MC5.

I’m on a mac 10.8.5, the new Avid is 5.5.2, the old Avid is 4.0.5. All the data should be on the external that is now hooked up to the new computer. The external has Avid MediaFiles >MXF>1, and then a bunch of files and a folder called Creating that is empty.

    Thanks.

you should be able to either copy the project itself into the path where your new avid is reading projects from, or when you are given the option of selecting a project, tell avid to look at the path where your original project is currently residing.

(you do have the project files, and not just the media right?)

you should also be able to open any bin from that project from within a different project on avid. (file open bin…)
