  • Difficulty importing files

Posted by Phil Byrd on January 15, 2015 at 5:37 pm

I have been sent a hard drive with files I need for a project. They are .mxf files and are placed in the correct MXF/1 directory. Media Composer (7) appears to scan the files when booting. But when I open media tool, the files can’t be located on the disc, so can’t be imported to the project. I follow the drill of selecting source and destination in media tool, then closing media tool. Then opening again. And still can’t find the files. As a check I was able to see other .mxf files on other drives with media tool.

Might this be media from MC8? Or is there something else I’m missing?

Perhaps they are OP-1A MXF Files? If so, they need to be converted into OP-Atom files(Native to Avid).

If they are OP-1A, then you should be able to AMA link to them using the AMA plug-in. If that is indeed the case, I would move them out of the Avid MediaFiles folder structure.

Locate the .mdb file in the MXF>1 folder. Drag that into a bin. It should populate that bin with all the media in that folder
