Shrinking large QT file to fit on DVD
Posted by Avi Lev on April 14, 2014 at 3:25 pmI exported from the MC a 1:49min show into 5.87GB QT Movie file.- It’s too big to burn on DVD.
What is the best way to compress it without loosing quality?

April 14, 2014 at 4:23 pmData DVD? or playable one on a DVD player?
What codec did you export as? And there’s no way to compress without losing quality…but some compressions preserve pretty good quality.
If a data DVD is what you want, then I’d mixdown to a lesser DNxHD codec…if this is 220, export 175. if 175, export 145. Or if an “x” codec (220x), then export as 220…no “x.”

April 15, 2014 at 12:10 pmThe Avid x codecs are the same datarate as the non x so the file size is the same.
But to make a playable DVD you have to encode to MPEG2 Sorenson Squeeze is good and has DVD templates.Pat Horridge
