  32fps in Avid Media Composer 7

  Hi,

  I’am currently editing a videoclip that has been shot on Red 3K at a framerate of 32. I can import the clips using ama and keep my 32frames in a 25fps project, but I need to timewarp the images and i figured out you can’t timewarp ama imported media. So I converted my media with RedcineX to DNX 185 and kept my 32frames. When I tried to import the DNXclips MC changes all my frame rates to 25fps instead of 32? Is there a way to import 32fps footage into an 25fps project?

  The only way to keep the frame rate is to import the files into a project setting with the same frame rate. IE 59.94 into 59.94, 29.97 into 29.97. Avid doesn’t do 32…so you can’t. Not with Avid. You’ll have to so all the conversion and frame rate adjustment outside of Avid, to the frame rate you want…then import.

  Are you sure about your Red project frame rate? You can have a project frame of 23.976 (or 25, 48 etc) and capture 32 frames per second to be playback at 23.976 (or 25, 48 etc) for that little bit slowmo look.

  32 fps is not a format that our Epics can record (willing to be wrong) as a project frame rate, check your metadata?
