    Greetings,

A development show we’ve started really wants to shoot with the Sony F5 and we’re still trying to work out the best possible workflow for our avid systems. While the cam guys are still testing to see if they can get the camera to generate proxy footage, I’m wondering if anyone has a workable solution for creating proxies from full rez XAVC footage that can then be used to later uprez back to HD during the online process?

The camera can record 35Mbps as its lowest data rate, if you consider that to be a low enough data rate for offline. Typically with the amount of footage reality shows are shooting, it is quite common to work in a low data rate SD offline due to storage considerations. Which of the codecs are you looking to be the master?

We’ll uprez to DNxHD 220 to online the final version to XDCam 50Mbit and then to HDCam for delivery most likely.
