  • MXF Media doesn’t have Master Clips!

Posted by Jeff Geiger on December 9, 2012 at 12:11 am

I was given a drive with mxf media, but when I load it in Media tool and select Media and Master Clips, I just get the media in the folder. No master clips. I have deleted the database files numerous times to have them rebuilt, with the same result.

I have also taken the database file and imported it into a new bin (which works with other Avid directories to bring up master clips) without success.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’d guess its not Avid MXF files but some other MXF files.
    How where they created?

The footage is of alpha mattes that were transcode in Avid. I’ve seen them in action but when transferred to my drive, I had no luck.

When you go to MediaTool, do you turn on all clip types and not just master clips?

I realized since they were alpha channel that they won’t come up with out a master clip, so I was able to ask around for them and finally got them. Crisis diverted.
