When i right click in the bin and select import footage a warning box appears saying. There are no media drives available. you will only be able to import shot logs. I have no idea what this means. I click ok and navigate to my folders where the 5d footage is located. Everything is greyed out, i just change the enable button from the shot log menu to any and it allows me to select my files. i click import and nothing happens. Also when the software first starts up it says “no media can be written to any mounted drive” please check with permissions

any ideas what i have done wrong? i have only had the software a week

    Many Thanks

Avid has the option of drive filtering, usually on system or network drives, and usually selected by the user

go to settings – media creation and check there

i think i saw this issue on a mac running Lion with MC 5.5, is that your case?

in any case, you should read a little on how to properly work with Avid.
for DSLR, you shouldn’t import but rather link to AMA then transcode.

also, you didn’t mention whether you had drives connected or not.

Is this on a Mac or PC? Do you, in fact, have a drive connected that you intend to use as your MEDIA drive? If so, go into the MEDIA CREATION settings and set that as the destination drive.
