  • MC 6 importing video with asian characters in DNxHD filenames

Posted by Mike Halper on November 17, 2011 at 11:55 pm

I am importing AVCHD MTS clips as DNxHD. In the AvidMediaFiles the new DNxHD media files have chinese or japanese or some other asian characters in the names. For example:

    00000䛀窶翿14EC59DE5.1.mxf

    00000䛀窶翿14EC59DE5.mxf

    00000䛀窶翿24EC59DE5.mxf

I previously imported these same files under MC 5.5.3 and did not get these characters in the name. How do I fix this?

Hi, I think maybe it’s related to the AMC new AVCHD import capability. I wonder if it does that on pc too. Oh, its probaly the the new unc naming specifications stuffs…

exemple of my files from an avchd import:
    00002蛀爷翿24EDBE0F9.MXF
    00002蛀爷翿14EDBE0F9.MXF
    00002蛀爷翿14EDBE0F9.1.MXF

I got the same “issue”. I imported AVCHD 2.0 footage from an A77 (AVCHD 1.0 25p footage, not AVCHD2-specific 50p footage, which I haven’t tried yet)

I don’t know if chinese characters are a problem, but I can’t transfer a very simple sequence to Resolve 8.1.1. Might be something else, though

    Filename examples:

    00054퐀瀦翿24EFDED80.mxf
    00054퐀瀦翿14EFDED80.mxf
    00054퐀瀦翿14EFDED80.1.mxf

The chinese characters seem to break AAF import in Resolve.

When exporting AAF from a sequence containing masterclips whose file names contain those AVCHD-created chinese characters, Resolve can’t find the files.

Do those characters replace a single letter or a word from the original name? Haven’t you tries to delete the asian characters in replace to the clip’s original name?
