    Hi everyone,

I am having a trouble keeping audio and video in synch. what happened was that I deleted some audio from some of the video clips and also kept some audio and video clips in sync(ie kept it as they are). However when i was trimming those video clips by using the ripple edit tool(ie the ones without the audio) my other synced video clips were moving forward a way from its original linked audio.I have tried the sync button by keeping it highlit and also kept the video track and a1 and a2 audio tracks slected but still did not work.please help need an urgent reply.

Unfortunately getting out of a sync issue basically just involves trimming the other way until the nubmers dissapear. It’s difficult to tell you what to do exactly witout seeing the sequence.

To avoid sync issues in future, you can turn sync lock on the tracks that need to stay in sync. Its the little button that turns into a kind of when you click it, next to the track selectors.

    Alternatively follow these rules.
    1) When extracting make sure you have all tracks that you want to stay in sync selected. If you only want to remove audio or video on its own use the lift command
    2) When performing a single roller trim (ripple trim) make sure you trim all tracks that you want to stay in sync. You can add edits and trim those on tracks that don’t have clips at that point. If you want to just trim video or audio then use a dual roller trim or an overwrite trim.

The ‘easiest’ way to keep elements is sync is sync locks; it’s the little switch the the left of the TC1 track. Full article on it here.

Andrew gave you all three ways, read his reply in depth.
